About This Spot
Walking into the Tavern at Woodberry Kitchen, you’re greeted by a quietly comforting blend of rustic charm and thoughtful warmth. The pace is unhurried, encouraging lingering conversations and a casual savoring of the moment, whether you’ve walked in for a midday coffee or an evening meal.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between welcoming neighborhood tavern and a destination for those who appreciate seasonal, thoughtfully crafted food. It feels familiar yet special, where attentive staff move about with genuine kindness, adding to an experience that focuses on connection as much as the menu. The cozy layout may be snug at times, but it only adds to a sense of shared space, like gathering around a well-loved table with friends.
On the plate, the tavern delights with dishes that reflect the best of the region’s bounty, thoughtfully prepared with care and restraint. Evening dinners unfold quietly but with a palpable sense of occasion—meals not rushed, grounded in good ingredients and a calm space to be present.
Many find themselves returning for the ease of the setting and the subtle rhythms of a well-loved neighborhood haunt that still surprises with seasonal specialties and personable warmth. Visited here for a rheumatology conference. So we had the back room in the back patio available to us. Beautiful location with ample space however, the table seating was a little bit tight. The service staff was incredibly friendly and was always refilling drinks and bringing around more option for food. For dinner, we had the chicken and the rockfish. Both were cooked perfectly, but the portions were rather small, so could have used a little bit more to eat. The flourless chocolate cake was good, but I’ve definitely had a more decadent flourless chocolate cake elsewhere.

I dinged them 1 for atmosphere (4/5) only because it was so tight in there, I had to scoot up every time someone was behind me. I'm just being nitpicky on that. But okay, it was the nicest restaurant meal i've had in baltimore in probably 5 years. We'd been trying lots of highly rated restaurants the last year or so and this has to be the best one. Parking/getting into the place was a little difficult. But I think a lot of people would enjoy the "exclusive" feeling that brings. Like I said the food was really nice. What I enjoyed most was the diversity on the menu. The chef had a lot of interesting items on there. I'll be going back next year for my birthday again! oh yeah, the service was 10/10. That's much easier to accomplish that a stellar menu, lol. The waitress/server was so friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. My understanding is that the menu changes frequently, possibly day-to-day as I wasn't able to preview the menu in the days before we were there. They do a nice job. I'm newish to the area, I didn't grow up around here, bur my wife did. She said the restaurant is very different than how it was several years ago, biggest difference is that (she said), it's much smaller now. THey can probably only seat 20 people in there, IF that. So reservations are a must. Next year I'll probably get an Uber/Lift just to make getting there a little simpler. I had a nice time, and most importantly, my wife did as well. :D

We had our micro wedding with 21 attendees at Woodberry Kitchen in March 2025. We got married on the patio and had our reception inside. We could not have picked a better venue for our wedding - it was the perfect size, price, etc. Woodberry Kitchen is the whole package for weddings and events. Everyone who came to our wedding talked about how wonderful the wedding and venue was - aesthetically pleasing and intimate with amazing food. Jolanta was great to work with throughout the planning process and listened to all of our requests and concerns, and Amanda was fantastic the day of the event, making sure everything went smoothly. If you're getting married or hosting an event in Baltimore, Woodberry Kitchen is a no-brainer for your dream venue!

We had an amazing dinner at The Tavern at Woodberry Kitchen. Our reservation was for two at 8:30 PM, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. We started with the short rib empanadas, which were rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The young lettuce salad was light and fresh, and the Everything Spring Salad, while more of a side dish than a traditional salad, was still delicious. The grilled zucchini in it really stood out. For mains, we had the fish and chips, with catfish as the fish of choice. It was delicate, perfectly cooked, and paired with crispy, well-seasoned fries. We also had the tavern steak frites cooked to your choice of doneness, and it was tender, flavorful, and satisfying. The blackberry mojitos were refreshing and perfectly balanced. It's definitely a cocktail we’d order again. Dessert was the chocolate cake, rich and indulgent, and a perfect way to end the night. Our server was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable, not just about the menu but also about the restaurant’s history and the neighborhood. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxed evening with great food, drinks, and thoughtful service.

I haven't been here in many years. Actually, the last time I was here was pre covid and the restaurant was much larger than it is now. My wife and I went for brunch and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be going back. You might want to make reservations before you go. We were there at 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon with reservations in the place was filled.

Very interesting experience. All the food was uniquely prepared and good quality. Lamb tenderloin was exceptional, have not had better. We also had rainbow trout, oyster pie, clams & grits, all were very good. Roasted oysters and asparagus salad were very nice appetizers. The Alaskan bake and chocolate Basque cheesecake were very nice way to end dinner. The service was very friendly and attentive.
